Women for IP Speaker Series 2025

What is the Scent of Success?

On 2 April 2025, IPOS Society and LES Singapore jointly presented a lively and engaging session with the theme “Scent of Success: Shaping Brands, Innovation and the Future”. The event, which is of the Women IP Event Series, was graciously hosted at the offices of Dentons Rodyk & Davidson.  The event’s theme was about building and protecting brand value, whether by fledgling women entrepreneurs coming to the market for the first time, or the head of established luxury brands company, who adapts the company’s strategy to market changes.

The event began with welcoming remarks from Lionel Tan, President of LES Singapore, and Mr Dixon Soh, President of IPOS Society, who greeted the attendees.

Ms Thitapha Wattanpruttipaisan, Director of the World Intellectual Property Organization, served as the guest of honour and delivered an animated and inspiring overview of the WIPO Women’s Mentorship Programme. Under this programme, WIPO offers mentorship to women entrepreneurs in South East Asia, assisting them with intellectual property protection and helping them create brand value. With her characteristic enthusiasm, Ms Thitapha showcased the impactful work of WIPO in nurturing Asia’s emerging women entrepreneurs whose creativity is boundless– from a fried chicken recipe using local spices to a musical orchestra blending classical music with a Laotian flute!

At the other end of the spectrum, the participants enjoyed a fireside chat led by Ms Sabrina Chong, Group Head of Corporate Development at Luxasia, one of Asia’s foremost distributors of perfume, cosmetics, and luxury goods. Moderated by Ms Anna Toh of Amicalaw, Ms Chong provided insights into the complexities of managing a luxury brand business, discussing both the challenges and successes, as well as their strategy for intellectual property protection. Ms Chong candidly answered the audience’s questions about her company’s brand strategy and their constant need to adapt to stay ahead of the game.

The event concluded with a networking session, where attendees caught up while enjoying food and wine.
