LES Singapore was delighted to host its first gathering of the year – a book launch to celebrate the publication of the second edition of the 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠.
We had the privilege of having both editors of this comprehensive handbook present some of the key highlights of this comprehensive resource -Professor Jacques de Werra from the University of Geneva and Professor Irene Calboli from Texas A&M University School of Law.
Catherine Lee, Vice-President of LES Singapore, welcomed attendees from various professional fields including companies, academia, legal firms in Singapore , and Anna Toh, Secretary of LES Singapore, shared practical insights from a Singapore legal perspective.
The discussion delved into key issues shaping today’s IP licensing landscape and challenges arising from a lack of harmonization of laws and practices surrounding IP licenses globally. Data licensing being a developing area for regulation was another discussion topic which resonated strongly with the attendees.
The session provided valuable perspectives and it would be interesting to see the next iteration of this resource as IP licensing and its role in driving global innovation evolves in the next few years.
